What to do when your reading vision fails...

So in my previous blog I talked about losing your reading or near vision typically in your 40s and 50s. So what to do?

Most people initially get reading glasses. Eventually intermediate or computer vision and far distance begins to go blurry too; so multifocal glasses or contact lenses may be suggested by your optometrist.

One option you may not know about is monovision or blended vision. It's the old monocle trick - one eye's focus is set for distance and one for close and the brain does the rest .. sounds kind of weird but in 80% of people it works a treat. You can have this set up in glasses, contact lens, laser eye surgery such as LASIK or SMILE or after cataract or lens exchange surgery.

And no .. you don't go around shutting one eye whenever you want to read 😊
